SM Foundation launches ‘Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Program

SM, through its socio civic arm, SM Foundation Inc., partnered once again with the Municipality of Dinalupihan to launch the 243rd batch of Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) on sustainable agriculture on April 12, 2023.

About 50 residents of Dinalupihan were chosen to be the beneficiaries of the said program.

For 14 weeks, D planners, a TESDA-accredited agriculture training and assessment center in Bataan will be the training center for the beneficiaries.

The SMFI supports farmers by connecting with local and national government agencies such as LGU Dinalupihan, DSWD, DA, DTI, DOST, DOT, and TESDA, to equip them with effective and sustainable backyard planting and small-scale farming methods for fruits and vegetables.

Another initiative is the launching of Sunday Market in Central Luzon SM Supermalls which is a collaborative effort of SM Supermalls, SM Cares, and the SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI) which aims to empower local farmers by giving them access to sustainable social and entrepreneurial opportunities.

This is achieved by providing them with the opportunity to showcase their produce at mall booths.

Through this program, farmers are able to directly interact with mall-goers and tenants, allowing them to set prices for their products and take home their profits at the end of each day.

The ultimate goal is to provide nationwide support to farmers and uplift their economic status. Upon completing the 14 – week training, the participants will graduate and reap the rewards of their hard work.

From 2007 to 2021, the KSK program had already trained 28,550 farmers in 916 municipalities and cities and 3,397 barangays in the Philippines.

In Bataan, 507 farmers from the towns of Dinalupihan and Morong as well as the City of Balanga have already graduated.
